Appointment Policies |
To make an appointment with Dr. Prewitt,
please call (949) 499-1371.
Our regular office hours are from 9am to 12 noon and 2pm to 5pm on
Monday through Friday, except for Thursday afternoon. We are
closed on most major holidays.
If you are a new patient, please arrive 20 minutes prior to your scheduled
appointments in order for us to verify your insurance coverage and
benefits and for you to complete informational paperwork.
All patients are requested to sign-in at the time of their arrival
so that their medical records can be prepared for the doctor’s
visit. We ask that you inform us of any changes to your
address, insurance coverage and marital status. Please inform
us if your visit is for an insurance covered "wellness examination".
We attempt to remind you of your appointment on the day prior to
your scheduled visit. If you have to reschedule an appointment, we
ask you to call us at least 24 hours in advance. This permits other
patients to be seen in a more timely manner.

Dr. Prewitt is fortunate to share after hours call with three excellent and experienced physicians in private practice in the Laguna Beach area. Dr. Frank Rose is an Internist and Cardiologist. Dr. Dan Haspert is an Internist and Nephrologist. Dr. David Kim is an Internist and Gerontologist. You may contact the "on-call" physician by calling 499 1371 at any time.
Hospital Care |
Dr. Prewitt has been on staff at South Coast Medical Center, Laguna Beach since 1976. His office is located adjacent to South Coast and he admits and cares for patients exclusively at this facility. Patients who are admitted to Mission Regional Medical Center in Mission Viejo are referred to his affiliated hospitalist group for inpatient care at that facility.
Billing and Financial Matters |
As a private practice physician, we make every effort to
provide treatments responsive to your individual needs with primary
attention to quality, timeliness and cost efficiencies. We
participate in most major PPO plans, but we do not participate in
any HMO plans. At this time, we accept assignment for Medicare
payment.
As a courtesy to our patients, we do bill directly to our contracted
PPO insurance plans and to Medicare for both primary and secondary
policies.
We do expect all patients to pay at the time of their visit for their annual deductibles, co-payments and for any non-covered services. We do accept Visa and MasterCard, in addition to personal check and cash. For patients who lack insurance coverage, we will discuss cash discount alternative payment schedules.
We send billing statements to you monthly and ask for prompt
payment. We do refer accounts to a collections service when our
concerted efforts to receive payment have been unsuccessful.
Our Billing is done by a contracted billing service company, Office
Solutions.
They are available by telephone to answer any questions that you may
have regarding your account or monthly statement. You

message and you should have a reply within a brief time.
